Chady Moustarah, Founder

Mr. Moustarah is the founding partner of Moustarah & Company. He practices in the areas of criminal law, personal injury, civil litigation and family law.

He received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta in 1999. He then graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree, also from the University of Alberta, in 2002.

Mr. Moustarah’s criminal practice has a particular focus on narcotic offences. However, he is proficient in defending all areas of criminal law.  He has successfully defended a number of murders, conspiracy cases, money laundering and serious violent offences.

He is willing to take cases in any province or territory, and has repeatedly appeared in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick, Northwest Territories, Yukon and Nunavut.  He has also done work in the United States.

He has appeared in the following levels of Court:  Provincial/Territorial Court, Court of Queen’s Bench/Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal. He is fluent in English and Arabic.

Outside of law, Mr. Moustarah has an interest in target practice, fitness and cinema.

M. Ali Moughel, Associate

Mr. Moughel is an associate with Moustarah & Company and practices in the areas of civil litigation, wrongful dismissal, and family law.

He received his Bachelor of Arts with Distinction in 2000 and his Bachelor of Laws in 2003, both from the University of Alberta.

Mr. Moughel has acted in an array of civil, quasi-criminal, criminal and administrative cases before all levels of Court in Alberta and various administrative boards, including the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Board, Hospital Privileges Appeal Board, and Labour Relations Board.

In addition to his family law and wrongful dismissal practice, Mr. Moughel has worked on complex litigation matters for and against a broad spectrum of parties, including government agencies, private corporations, insurance concerns, and small business owners. He has experience in the conduct of shareholder disputes / oppression claims, construction litigation, business torts, Anton Piller / Mareava Injunction matters, and Defamation / libel claims.

Outside of law, Mr. Moughel enjoys baseball and films about heroes.

Kelsey Selbee, Associate

Ms. Selbee is an Associate with Moustarah & Company and practices exclusively in the area of criminal law.

Ms. Selbee obtained a Bachelor of Social Sciences with a major in Criminology from the University of Ottawa in 2006. She obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Victoria in 2009.

Prior to joining Moustarah & Company, Ms. Selbee practiced criminal law in Vancouver, British Columbia both as a defence lawyer and as an Agent for the Public Prosecution Service of Canada. Ms. Selbee has represented clients charged with a wide range of criminal offences of varying degrees of seriousness including conspiracies, murder, and attempted murder. She has worked on high profile complex files involving multi-accused persons and wiretap evidence. She also has extensive knowledge and experience with drug trafficking related offences.

Ms. Selbee has handled cases in Provincial Court, Supreme Court (BC), Court of Queen’s Bench (AB) and the Court of Appeal.

Outside of law, Ms. Selbee enjoys staying active outdoors.

Raj Gill, Associate

Mr. Gill is an Associate with Moustarah & Company practicing in the area of criminal law.

He received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alberta in 2009. He then completed his Juris Doctor at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio in 2012.

Mr. Gill completed his articles at Moustarah & Company and became an Associate in August 2014.

His criminal practice ranges from various types of assaults to armed robberies and drug offences such as possession for the purpose of trafficking, trafficking and production. He has appeared in Provincial Court and Court of Queen’s Bench on matters including bail hearings, sentencing hearings, trials and jury trials. Mr. Gill has successfully represented clients in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Quebec.

Mr. Gill has experience practicing real estate law and will accept real estate files on a case-by-case basis. He is fluent in English and Punjabi.

Outside of law, Mr. Gill is a sports enthusiast with a keen interest in hockey.

G. Sandro Giammaria, Associate

Mr. Giammaria is an Associate with Moustarah & Company and practices exclusively in the area of criminal law.

In 2005, Mr. Giammaria received a Bachelor of Humanities from Carleton University, where he graduated with Highest Honours. He went on to complete his graduate studies in 2008, receiving a Master of Arts in Political Science with a major in Political Theory and Technology. In 2014, Mr. Giammaria completed his Juris Doctor at the University of Ottawa.

Mr. Giammaria completed his articles with one of Eastern Ontario’s premier criminal defence firms. Never one to back away from a fight, he has been involved in litigating a wide variety complex federal and provincial cases at every stage of proceedings, and all levels of court in Ontario. These include first- and second-degree murder, sexual assault, drug and human trafficking cases, dangerous or impaired driving, fraud, theft, and domestic violence offences. He also has extensive knowledge of Charter case law and has assisted in defending Charter rights at the Ontario Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal.

Mr. Giammaria is a diligent and creative lawyer who is committed to achieving the very best results for his clients, whatever the charges.

Outside of law, Mr. Giammaria enjoys playing drums and indulges his passion for everything from classic rock, rap, and R&B to soul, swing, and soft jazz.

Sheida Noroozi, Student-at-Law

Ms. Noroozi is a Student-at-Law practising in the areas of personal injury, criminal law and civil litigation.

Ms. Noroozi received her B.A., with Distinction, in Political Science and French Language from the University of Alberta in 2011. She made the University of Alberta’s Dean’s List from 2009 to 2011. She then completed her Juris Doctor, graduating cum laude, at the University of Ottawa Law School, French Common Law Program.

She has received a number of academic awards throughout her undergraduate and legal studies including Academic Excellence Awards from the University of Alberta in 2007 and 2008, Dean’s List Scholarships from the University of Alberta in 2010 and 2011, the Roger Mahé Memorial Award in 2011 and 2012, the Newton Rowell Scholarship while at the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law as well as the University of Ottawa Professional Training Scholarship.

Throughout her articles, Ms. Noroozi has gained experience in personal injury law and civil litigation drafting contracts, pleadings and settlements. Her criminal law experience includes preparing for trials, Charter applications, and sentencing hearings.

She is fluent in English, French and Persian (Farsi).

Outside of law, Ms. Noroozi enjoys traveling and photography.

Ali Tarrabain, Student-at-Law

Mr. Tarrabain is a Student-at-Law practising criminal law with a particular focus on drug, impaired driving and regulatory offences.

Mr. Tarrabain attended Grant MacEwan University where he pursued studies in political science from 2010 to 2012. He then traveled abroad to complete his legal education and received his Bachelor of Laws in 2015.

While attending Grant MacEwan University, he founded a political party in Alberta aimed at rendering the democratic process more transparent and accessible.

At a very young age, Mr. Tarrabain explicitly expressed interest in promoting the well-being of people. This interest is manifested in his approach to the practice of criminal law.

He is fluent in English and Arabic.

Outside of law, Mr. Tarrabain has an interest in billiards and boxing.
